Having a valid will ensures that you give your assets to those that you care about.

A valid will reflects your real intentions and ensures that assets are distributed appropriately and reduces family disputes.

A Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is an important document as it allows the attorney to manage your financial affairs. It is important that you obtain advice as to the power that your attorney has on your behalf to ensure you appoint the most appropriate person to look after your interests.

Many people believe that just because you are someones husband, wife or sibling, that you are entitled to make decisions as to where they should live and what medical treatment should be provided to you.

This is not correct if you want to appoint someone to make such decision you will need to appoint an enduring guardian.

If someone has passed away the executor must obtain a grant of probate from the court. The probate provides authority to the executor to administer the estate in accordance with the will.
